United Methodist Women is an integral part of the United Methodist Church. "In every local church there shall be an organized unit of United Methodist Women." (Book of Discipline 2000)
Gloria Alexander, Chairperson
St. James United Methodist Women
Our purpose here at St James United Methodist Church is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. We seek women who actively choose to become involved in this inclusive mission organization, and membership is open to any woman who indicates her desire to belong.
As Methodist Women, we encourage and help each other to find meaning in their participation in the church and is drawn to its fellowship, who wants to combine fellowship with study, worship and outreach opportunities, who feels she has gifts that are to be shared with others, who seeks a supportive community to affirm her own sense of purpose and commitment to God through Jesus Christ.
We welcome new members, and are always excited to share about the many ways that United Methodist Women are involved in mission, making a difference, every day, in the lives of women, children and youth, in our church, and in our own communities.
